Abstract

A kinetic description of phonon-pulse propagation and phonon focussing phenomena is presented. The energy and quasimomentum focussing is considered. The relation between certain features of images of crystalline solids and phonon characteristics is discussed. We consider also the simplest scattering mechanism — interaction of phonons with point mass defects.
