Ionization and recombination coefficients of excited states in nonideal hydrogen plasmas

Abstract

Impact ionization and three-body recombination was studied for a nonideal hydrogen plasma. Arrhenius-type expressions depending on the effective ionization energies were derived for the ionization coefficients. The deviations of the exponential Arrhenius law were calculated numerically in Born approximation taking into account the Debye shift approximation for the effective ionization energies and static screening in the electron-electron interaction. They correspond to density dependent recombination coefficients.
