Abstract

Between 1984 and 1994, a total of 43 Community-Based Coastal Resource Management (CBCRM) programs and projects were implemented throughout the Philippines. This paper presents a review and evaluation of these programs and projects, which provide a wealth of experience and "lessons learned" to guide the design and implementation of CBCRM policy and local-level initiatives. A range of institutions and processes are identified for the implementation of CBCRM, as well as considerations for design and implementation of programs and projects and specific interventions. Policy implications for CBCRM are presented.
