Agricultural green production efficiency within a green finance framework: Empirical evidence from China

Abstract

Developing regional agricultural linkages in green finance is essential to driving carbon emission reductions in agriculture while achieving “dual carbon” goals. Empirical study indicates that China's agricultural green production efficiency (AGPE) 11The AGPE (agricultural green production efficiency) is defined as maximizing positive agricultural output and minimizing negative agricultural output under resource and environmental constraints. is on an overall upward trend, with relatively minimal absolute differences in efficiency scores among provinces during the sample period. The spatial network correlation of China's AGPE has strengthened, with the network density, structure, rank, and efficiency stabilizing and improving, reflecting a complex network structure focused on the Yellow River and Yangtze River basins. Input and output factors related to AGPE across provinces and municipalities exhibited varying redundancy, with land and energy redundancies more pronounced among input indicators. The effects of economic development, transportation, technological development, human capital, industrial structure differences, and spatial distance on China's AGPE spatial correlation network illustrate significant spatial heterogeneity.
