Some aspects of energy policy and programs in China

Abstract

A specific feature of the People's Republic of China is that some 80% of its immense population live in rural areas. Consequently, its energy management policy takes particular account of the requirements of the rural sector. This explains the existence of a large number of small electric power plants and the proliferation of biomass pits for the production of gas.
