Abstract

The transdisciplinarity lies at the core of the ecosystem services (ES) field and provides a unique opportunity to develop scientific foundations of the concept and foster the integration of nature's values into governance processes. The article introduces the Special Issue that focuses on research integrating ES’s biophysical, socio-cultural and economic dimensions in a transdisciplinary approach. We consider a set of submitted papers under three horizontal issues: differences in the methods used, the concept of valuation and the specificity of policymaking.
