Poverty alleviation as a global public good: The case for Basic Income

Abstract

The concept of global public goods has played an increasingly important role in discussions of sustainable development. Prominent examples include control of pandemic disease and mitigation of climate change. In this paper, it is argued that poverty alleviation should be considered as a global public good. The feasibility of a global Basic Income is discussed.
