Sheath plasma instability in inverted fireballs

Abstract

The sheath plasma instabilities (SPIs) excitable in unstable inverted fireballs (IFBs) is theoretically analyzed. It applies a bifluidic (electronic and ionic) plasma model approach. The different quasilinear parametric fluctuations are procedurally decoupled in the form of an ordinary differential equation of order-2 (ODE(2)) electrostatic potential. It is numerically solved to depict the relevant plasma parameters, such as electron (ion) densities, velocities, sheath potential, and electric field fluctuations. The derived plasma parameters with peakonic and bifold-solitonic (mirror-solitonic) nature are pictorially illustrated in detail. It is further corroborated with the help of the corresponding colormaps. It is found that the induced electric field due to SPI manifests evanescent or standing wave-like behaviors across the sheath as already experimentally reported in the literature. Finally, an account of the relevant possible future applicability of plasma fireball research in both pure and applied sciences across the SPI paradigms is summarily outlined.
