De la casa al trabajo: tiempo de viaje, conmutación y efecto composición en zonas metropolitanas de México

Abstract

El viaje por motivos de trabajo es el tipo de movilidad cotidiana de mayor volumen en cualquier ciudad. En este artículo se estudian las principales características del mercado laboral y los patrones del viaje al trabajo en las ciudades y zonas metropolitanas de México. Se analizan el tiempo de viaje, la conmutación y el efecto composición en la edad, la relación hombres-mujeres y el ingreso de la población ocupada. Los hallazgos sugieren que el tiempo de viaje al trabajo y la intensidad de la conmutación en las ciudades de México dependen sobre todo del tamaño de la población, y que la conmutación reduce la segregación socioeconómica en la ciudad central, pero la refuerza en la periferia metropolitana.
