El gradiente educativo de la disolución conyugal en el Ecuador

Abstract

El objetivo de este estudio es analizar el gradiente educativo de la disolución conyugal de la primera unión de las mujeres en el Ecuador. Utilizando datos de la Encuesta Nacional de Salud y Nutrición (ENSANUT) 2018 y el análisis de historia de eventos, se observó que, de forma univariada o controlando por cohorte de nacimiento, edad a la primera unión y número de hijos, las mujeres con educación media y superior tienen un mayor riesgo de disolución conyugal frente a aquellas con educación básica. Al controlar por actividad económica y área de residencia, el efecto del nivel educativo medio se reduce y el del nivel educativo superior deja de ser significativo. La relación entre educación y disolución está, entonces, mediada por el acceso a recursos que posibilitan a las mujeres finalizar uniones conyugales no satisfactorias y por barreras que lo impiden. Estos son hallazgos relevantes en un contexto de desigualdad económica y de género como el ecuatoriano.
