Análisis de los instrumentos internacionales y nacionales de derechos humanos de las personas mayores

Abstract

El propósito de este estudio es hacer un aporte a la sistematización de la situación actual de los derechos de las personas mayores en los instrumentos internacionales sobre derechos humanos de las Naciones Unidas y de la Organización de los Estados Americanos, así como de la legislación de los países latinoamericanos. La principal conclusión de este artículo es que las personas mayores son sujetos de especiales derechos, cuya concreción avanza rápidamente, tanto en el campo del derecho internacional como en el del derecho nacional. El desafío es enorme, debido a que en el contexto actual, junto con lograr que las personas mayores sean reconocidas como sujetos de derechos, se deben crear reglamentos, políticas e instituciones que les garanticen su pleno goce y ejercicio.
