Los programas ortodoxos de ajuste en América Latina: un examen crítico de las políticas del Fondo Monetario Internacional

Abstract

Considera la naturaleza y el significado macroeconomico del proceso de ajuste. Pone de relieve el sesgo recesivo del enfoque del Fondo Monetario Internacional. Analiza la gestion del Fondo como fuente y catalizador del financiamiento, examina las politicas economicas internas comprendidas en los programas de ajuste del Fondo. Para ello estudia tanto el enfoque que los sustenta como su aplicacion concreta en los 17 acuerdos de ajuste que estaban vigentes en America Latina y el Caribe a fines de 1983. Desarrolla una critica de la condicionalidad y demas politicas internas de ajuste y propone algunas reformas.
