A Qualitative Research on Hubristic Behaviors of Managers

Abstract

Hubris is assessed as a syndrome by Owen, is a concept focuses on link between desire to power and abnormal behavior. Hubris is known as divine ego is also disease. This disease is observed in managers and leaders is a power toxication or arrogance syndrome. Researches about hubris shows that hubristic behavior has a negative impact on risky desicions and company performance. Hubristic behavior is also affecting the organization success. So these kind of behaviors is important for organization. The aim of this study is have the managers hubrsi syndrome, how hubristic behavior affect the junior and their performance. With this aim; 31 junior was interviewed structured interviews. The answers were subjected content analysis. According to participants? statements, at least three hubristic behaviors were observed for saying the mojority of managers have hubris syndrome. In addition; juniors feel humiliated, have fear making mistake because of they don?t appreciated.
