Abstract

In today?s world the business world carry an appearance, in which it is experienced fast social and cultural transformations, where transformation and competitiveness are highly perceived, and the organizational life brings the individuals into inextricable crises. These fast changes bring out the individual performances and employees show great efforts to keep their jobs. These efforts cause organizational conflicts to increase. While part of these conflicts support the organizational development, some of them plays a role triggering destructive behaviors between employees. One of the destructive behaviors seen is mobbing. Mobbing is defined as trying to make generally one individual feel themselves needy and vulnerable because of one or more individuals implementing systematic unethical and unfriendly behaviors for at least 6 months (Leyman, 1996). Especially, role conflict, low satisfaction level towards managers, the level of participating in decision making related to the work and the perception of organizational climate are thought to be related to mobbing. In this context, according to the perception of primary school teachers, the relationship between climate and mobbing has been researched. Also, in the perception of climate and mobbing how various variables (gender, age, marital status, business tenure, educational status) differ is examined. The study has been executed with 361 teachers working in primary schools located in Batman and ?stanbul. To gather the data, personal information form, organizational climate scale (Yahyagil, 2003; Litwin and Stringer, 1996) and mobbing scale (Einersen and Helga, 2004) have been used. The obtained data were analyzed by SPSS (11), a software package. According to the results, it has been found that between the perception of climate of the employees and the mobbing there is a negative way relationship.
