Abstract

This study is the abstract of the book named Democratic Education. The work is a book of 92 pages. The author is Kemal Bakir. The full name of the book is ?Democratic Education On John Dewey?s Philosophy of Education.? The work is published by Eser Pegem Academic Publishing House. The first edition of the work was printed in March 2011. The second edition was printed in September 2012. The place of publication is Ankara. The worth of the book is 12 TL. The work comprises preface, introduction, John Dewey, Democratic education and conclusion headings. The first heading of John Dewey addresses Who is John Dewey, Dewey and Pragmatism, What is Pragmatism, Dewey?s philosophy, the meaning of philosophy and philosophical method, Critics on conventional and modern philosophy, Reconstructing philosophy, Dewey and education subheadings. The second heading is Democratic education. In the conclusion part, active learning strategies that were revealed in Dewey's student-centered approach are said to reveal education, in terms of being the life itself, as a more efficient and realistic process. The individual?s search for solutions through the life by focusing on selected problems of daily life is said to be the biggest factor that enhances his creativity. It is emphasized that creative problem solving is the method for democracy.
