Decisions And Applicability Situations Regarding Pre-School Education In Educational Councils

COVID-19 was discovered in January 2020 during a recent pneumonia outbreak in Wuhan, China's Hubei province. The COVID-19 epidemic, which is effective all over the world, has affected approximately 1.6 billion students in more than 200 countries, causing the greatest deterioration in education systems in human history. The closure of schools, institutions and other learning spaces has affected more than 94% of the world's student population. This has brought far-reaching changes in every aspect of our lives. Social distancing and restrictive movement policies have significantly disrupted traditional educational practices. Many schools, colleges and universities have stopped face-to-face teaching. Due to the pandemic in vocational and technical education in Turkey, the problem of school dropout and absenteeism has emerged. In this research, it is aimed to reveal the reasons for dropout and absenteeism of students studying in Vocational and Technical Secondary Education Institutions in Turkey due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In this context, the opinions of teachers working in Vocational and Technical Secondary Education Institutions were collected through a semi-structured interview form. According to the results obtained, in the scope of absenteeism and dropout, parental indifference, economic inadequacy, education level, domestic violence and health problems are the leading causes, while in relation to the social environment, negative habits such as friends, wrong examples in the environment and drugs are at the forefront. Social media, academic failure, mental inadequacies, and lack of future plans are in the first place among student-related problems.
