Abstract
Nowadays, in which data is used in large amounts and diversity, companies have increased their interest in “data†, which plays a major role in future planning. Particularly, departments such as machine learning, artificial intelligence, technological developments established in departments have made statistics, which is the art of extracting information from data, more popular, and also increased the interest in department of statistics in universities. As a result of this interest, the “data-scientist†profession, which has been one of the favorite professions in recent years and which has been adapted to the statistician profession, has become among the top 10 most profitable professions in the world.The data scientist is the person responsible for examining complex data that arises with “big data†technology, solving problems and answering questions. Computer engineering and Statistics departments have become professions that increase the demand for graduates, as data scientists have to know more statistics than programming and more programming than statistician. This study presented statistical information regarding the data scientist profession in Turkey, and it has examined the relationship with Statistics Section of this profession and people who have graduated from the Department of Statistics.
