Abstract

Climate change is described by the United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon as "the biggest common problem we have ever faced as humanity". The heat holding capacity of greenhouse gases causes global warming, which causes climate change. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has revealed the main cause of global climate change as an increase in greenhouse gas emissions as a result of human activities. The transportation sector is one of the important sources of greenhouse gases, which has a negative impact on global climate change. In order to measure the damage caused by human activities on nature in terms of carbon emission, carbon footprint measuring greenhouse gases in terms of carbon dioxide (CO2) equivalent is used. This study was carried out to determine the carbon footprint originating from aircraft for Adana Airport in 2019. The emission calculations used to determine the carbon footprint are estimated by the Tier 2 approach proposed by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.
