Turkish Bankin Sector Analysis of Global Financial Crisis Environment: Application of Camels

Abstract

A variety of method can be used to measure banks’ performance. However CAMELS performance evaluation model developed in USA and retried applicability in Turkish banking sector was used in this study. The master principle of the CAMELS analysis is based to coordinating maximum return flow of funds on a particular level of risk or minimum risk at the level of a particular return. In this study it has been aimed to find out the financial standing of the public, private and foreign-capital banks with public, private and foreign- development and investment banks in the global economics crisis via CAMELS analysis method. In this context, a comparative analysis of bank groups has been carried out by using tha data covering the period between 2007-2014. According to this, the Turkish banking system has been determined that be of a strong structure.
