Abstract
Green organizational behavior, is a term that has entered the literature of business in the last years and has been the subject to a very limited amount of researches. Together with this limitation, there is a significant need in research designs that examine the effect of the employees’ green behavior on their organizational behavior. Due to the existence of this need, in this study, the impact of the employees’ environmental passion and their eco-friendly behavior in their workplace on their level of organizational commitment is examined. The study compasses the employees (n= 668) of 11, 4 and 5 starred hotels in the center of the city Konya. The reason for choosing the hotels as universe is the supposition that the obtained data would be more significative since the tourism sector has been the most intensively working sector on the concepts of environment and green in the recent years. Simple random sampling method is used in the research. According to that, this research sample consists of participants who are selected randomly from the hotel employees (n= 255) which are employees of 9, 4 and 5 starred hotels in Konya center qualified to represent the universe. For the collection of the data, the method of survey is used which is applied to the participants during face to face conversations. In the study, it is found that the participants have a medium-level tendency to organizational commitment, a high-level tendency to environmental passion and a high-level tendency to green organizatonal behavior. The result of the research, has identified that there is no statistically significant effect of the level of employees' environmental passion and their tendency of green organizational behavior on organizational commitment. In addition, there is found a statistically significant effect of the employees’ level of the environmental passion on the tendency for displaying an environmentally friendly behavior at the workplace.
