An Ottoman House In The Bafra

The political events of the 18th century forced the Ottoman Empire into new quests against industrialized Europe and caused radical changes. During the 18th and 19th centuries, which were described as westernization period in the Ottoman State, changes took place in the cultural field including military, technical areas and reflected in the art environment. Following the artistic initiatives showing the effect of the preliminaries around the palace, an artistic environment for new needs was formed within the boundaries of the entire Empire after the capital Istanbul in the process. The subject of this work is the pictures on the ceiling of a minority house located in Bafra District of Samsun. In historical mansions and houses within the borders of Samsun; geometrical-vegetative adornments and writings. This house is a place to include urban and nature depictions, human and animal representations together with special shaped geometric ornaments. The fact that there is no information in the sources related to the home is required to prepare this work. While the descriptions and diversity of the ceiling paintings shed light on the history of the region, its presentation is also important. It is thought to have been built in the second half of the 19th century on the same dates as the Bafra Museum next to the house. However, this work is important in terms of destruction in pictures and introduction to younger generations.
