Abstract

El presente trabajo tiene por objetivo analizar la importancia de la educacion en la problematica del desarrollo social de los paises latinoamericanos, considerando la favorable incidencia que la misma puede ejercer en la reduccion de las tasas de mortalidad infantil. Nuestro analisis econometrico se basa en el comportamiento de determinados indicadores socioeconomicos seleccionados para el conjunto de paises integrantes de la Comunidad Andina de las Naciones (CAN): Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru y Venezuela por decadas en el periodo de 1960-2000 This paper analyses the importance of the education in the problem of the social development of the Latin American countries, taking into account the favourable incidence that the education can exercise in the reduction of the infant mortality rates. Our econometric analysis is based on the evolution of certain socio-economic indicators selected for the group of countries of the Andean Community of Nations (CAN): Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela per decades in the period of 1960-2000
