Rückstand bei der Bildung gefährdet Deutschlands Innovationsfähigkeit

Abstract

Die Innovationsfähigkeit der hoch entwickelten Industrieländer ist ihre wichtigste Quelle für Wohlstand und Wachstum. Das DIW Berlin hat zum vierten Mal die Innovationsfähigkeit Deutschlands im internationalen Vergleich ermittelt. Dabei wird die Fähigkeit eines Landes, Wissen zu schaffen und in neue marktfähige Produkte und Dienstleistungen (Innovationen) umzusetzen, mit einem Indikatorsystem bewertet, das sowohl einen zusammengefassten Gesamtindikator als auch ein detailliertes Stärken-Schwächen-Profil liefert. In einer Gruppe von 17 weltweit führenden Industrieländern landet Deutschland erneut nur auf dem 8. Platz und bleibt damit Teil eines breiten Mittelfeldes. Relativ zu seinen wichtigsten Wettbewerbern kann sich Deutschland nicht verbessern. An der Spitze stehen Schweden, die USA, die Schweiz, Finnland und Dänemark. Deutschland ist besonders erfolgreich auf den internationalen Märkten für neue Produkte und Leistungen und bei der Vernetzung der Innovationsakteure. Die größten Schwächen liegen nach wie vor im Bildungssystem und bei den Finanzierungsbedingungen für Innovationen und Unternehmensgründungen. Die notwendige deutliche Verbesserung ist nicht in Sicht.
