Die Anhänger der "Linken": Rückhalt quer durch alle Einkommensschichten

Abstract

Die Partei Die Linke hat in einem Jahr geschafft, was ihre beiden Vorgängerparteien, WASG und PDS, vergeblich versucht haben: Eine in Ost- und Westdeutschland erfolgreiche Kraft politisch links neben der SPD zu etablieren. Auf der Basis der Daten des Sozio-oekonomischen Panels (SOEP) wird gezeigt, dass die Bedeutung der Anhänger der Linken seit 2005 stark zugenommen hat. Diese Entwicklung zeigt sich insbesondere in einem wachsenden Rückhalt in der Arbeiterschaft. Die Anhänger der Linken setzen sich - entgegen mancher Vermutung - nicht überdurchschnittlich aus Teilen der einkommensschwächeren oder von sozialem Abstieg betroffenen Bevölkerung zusammen. Vielmehr spielen zumindest in Westdeutschland Ängste vor dem eigenen wirtschaftlichen Abstieg neben der Betonung einer ideologisch linken Überzeugung eine wichtige Rolle. In Ostdeutschland kennzeichnet die Anhänger der Partei Die Linke eine überdurchschnittliche Bildung und ein hohes Maß an gesellschaftlicher Integration in Gewerkschaften und Kommunalpolitik.
