Jobben von Jugendlichen beeinträchtigt weder Schulleistungen noch Freizeit: Ergebnisse des SOEP für die Jahre 2000 bis 2002

Abstract

Mit 13 Jahren haben nach eigenen Angaben bereits 7 % aller Jugendlichen gejobbt; mit 14 Jahren haben weitere 11 % damit begonnen. Von den 17-jährigen Schülern sind fast 40 % neben der Schule mindestens einmal erwerbstätig gewesen. Weitere Analysen der vom DIW Berlin zusammen mit Infratest Sozialforschung erhobenen Daten des Sozio-oekonomischen Panels (SOEP) zeigen, dass Jobben schulischem Erfolg oder anderen Freizeitaktivitäten nicht entgegensteht. Im Gegenteil: Jobbende Schülerinnen und Schüler sind insgesamt überdurchschnittlich aktive Jugendliche. Allerdings kann man bei denjenigen Jugendlichen, die bereits als Kinder (vor Vollendung des 14. Lebensjahres) gejobbt haben, leicht unterdurchschnittliche Schulnoten beobachten.
