Die Welt-Metallmärkte 2001 und 2002: zwischen Terroranschlägen und Krieg im Irak

Abstract

Alle Metallmärkte wurden von dem weltwirtschaftlichen Abschwung erfasst, der im zweiten Halbjahr 2000 einsetzte und - verstärkt durch die Terroranschläge vom 11. September 2001 und deren Auswirkungen - bis heute anhält. Daher blieben Nachfrage und Preise auf den Metallmärkten auch im Jahre 2002 zumeist niedrig. Der nun zu Ende gegangene Irakkrieg hat die starke Verunsicherung von Konsumenten und Investoren bisher nicht beseitigt, zumal sich die Situation im Nahen Osten noch nicht stabilisiert hat. Auf den Metallmärkten ist ein Aufschwung im laufenden Jahr wenig wahrscheinlich. Trotz verringerter Produktion sind wegen spekulativer Käufe aber Preisausschläge möglich. Unternehmenskonzentrationen und Verlagerungen der Produktion an günstigere Standorte werden unter dem Druck niedriger Metallpreise weiter zunehmen.
