Arbeitsmarkteffekte der Zuwanderung nach Deutschland

Abstract

Während die geplante Osterweiterung der Europäischen Union (EU) hohe Erwartungen bei den Aufnahmekandidaten geweckt hat, sind bei einigen EU-Staaten Befürchtungen aufgekommen, im Zuge der Erweiterung der Gemeinschaft um Staaten Mittel- und Osteuropas wirtschaftliche Nachteile zu erleiden. Insbesondere besteht die Sorge, dass in großem Umfang billigere Arbeitskräfte aus den Beitrittsländern zuwandern und dadurch in den jetzigen EU-Ländern die Löhne von einheimischen Beschäftigten reduziert oder die Arbeitslosigkeit verstärkt werden könnten. Der vorliegende Bericht basiert auf einer Untersuchung des Instituts zur Zukunft der Arbeit (IZA). Ausgehend von empirischen Studien und unter Verwendung von Simulationen einfacher ökonomischer Modelle werden die potentiellen Arbeitsmarkteffekte der nach einer EU-Osterweiterung zu erwartenden Ost-West-Migration quantifiziert.
