Westdeutsche Industrie: Erfolge bei der Senkung der Lohnstückkosten

Abstract

Kürzlich ist an dieser Stelle die Entwicklung der Produktionskosten in der westdeutschen Industrie seit 1975 auf der Basis der Kostenstrukturstatistik des Statistischen Bundesamtes beschrieben worden. Aussagen zur aktuellen konjunkturellen Entwicklung der Kostengrößen ließen sich - da diese Statistik nur Daten bis zum Jahr 1991 liefert - nicht treffen. Eine zentrale Größe, anhand der die Wettbewerbsfähigkeit der Branchen häufig beurteilt wird, sind die Lohnstückkosten, d.h. die Ausgaben für Löhne und Gehälter im Verhältnis zur Nettoproduktion. Auf der Grundlage des Monatsberichts des Statistischen Bundesamtes über Betriebe und Unternehmen des Bergbaus und des verarbeitenden Gewerbes wird in der hier vorgelegten Untersuchung die Entwicklung der Lohnstückkosten seit 1978 dargestellt. Im vergangenen Jahr sind im Jahresdurchschnitt die Lohnstückkosten nochmals gestiegen, wenn auch wesentlich schwächer als 1992. Allerdings haben die Unternehmen im Jahresverlauf besondere Anstrengungen unternommen, die Lohnstückkosten zu senken. Dabei hat sich eine hohe Flexibilität der Unternehmen bei der Anpassung an schwierige Absatz- und Wettbewerbslagen gezeigt.
