Migrationsforschung und Politik: gemeinsame Verantwortung

Abstract

Zuwanderung erfordert Sensibilität, Verantwortung, Realitätssinn und Gestaltungskraft von Zuwanderern, aber auch Einheimischen. Zuwanderungspolitik braucht politische Entscheidungsträger mit Führungskraft, Initiative und Konzepten. Unverzichtbar für die politischen Entscheider ist daher die wissenschaftliche Forschung auf den Gebieten der Migration und Integration. Theoretische und empirische Erkenntnisse stoßen dabei aber häufig auf massive Widerstände, wenn es um die Umsetzung in die praktische Politik geht. Ich zeige in meinem Essay das Spannungsverhältnis zwischen Politik und Wissenschaft auf und gehe ausführlich auf den mehrmaligen Paradigmenwechsel im Bereich der Zuwanderung und Integration ein. Letzlich erweist sich auch auf dem Feld der Zuwanderung, dass von der wissenschaftlichen Politikberatung oft entscheidende Impulse ausgehen, wenn der richtige Zeitpunkt gekommen ist.
