Current Ethno-Political Situation In The North Caucasus: State And Problems

Abstract

The aim of the article is to analyze the current ethno-political situation in the Northern Caucasus, one of the most unique regions not only in Russia, but in the whole world as well.Methods. The author uses the principles and approaches of social dialectics as the main methods.Results. In the course of the research the author comes to the opinion that the geopolitical and geographical position of the North Caucasus, the peculiarities of the confessional affiliation of its inhabitants and a number of other important factors and prerequisites affect the political situation and interethnic relations. The collapse of the USSR and the ensuing social crisis showed that relations between different ethnic groups were one of the most vulnerable spheres of the human relations.Conclusion. Interethnic respect is the basic condition for coexistence in the region. For the prosperity of all the peoples of the North Caucasus, it is necessary to pursue a policy of regional cooperation and the creation of common coordinating political and economic structures for the North Caucasian republics.
