Abstract

The only thing standing between severe environmental degradation and uncontrolled phenomenon of “climate migrants” is time. We know with almost certainty that they will appear during this century and based on statistics, we know that they will also head towards the European Union among other destinations. However, there is no legislative framework designed to prevent the emergence of a legal or crisis vacuum. In this paper, we analyze the legal framework and the response of the European Union in the face of the threat/issue that “climate migration” may present.
