Abstract

En el curso de la III Conferencia Internacional de Historia Económica, celebrada el año 1965 en Munich, Aldo de Maddalena, moderador de la sección dedicada al tema «Fiscalidad y Economía», expresaba en su rapport général algunas reflexiones que deseo retomar aquí como punto de partida de esta comunicación. Sólo voy a recordar una de ellas: la necesidad de encontrar vías comunes para los estudios de historia de la economía y de historia de las finanzas públicas, hasta ese momento casi totalmente disociados1. Desde entonces, no cabe duda, se ha avanzado mucho. Las páginas que siguen, con las que queremos insistir en algunos aspectos de las interrelaciones entre finanzas públicas y desenvolvimiento del sector agrario en los siglos XVI y XVII, tienen también, entre otros, dicho propósito.
