Determinantes de la innovaci—n: el rol de las econom’as de aglomeraci—n

Abstract

La innovaci—n es un factor importante para la productividad y el crecimiento econ—mico. Entonces, c—mo surge la innovaci—n o c—mo se puede reforzar es una cuesti—n relevante, especialmente para las econom’as en desarrollo. El objetivo principal es identificar los determinantes de la innovaci—n con especial Žnfasis en las externalidades de aglomeraci—n. Los datos se obtienen de la Encuesta Nacional de Actividades de Ciencia, Tecnolog’a e Innovaci—n de los per’odos 2009-2011 y 2012-2014. Utilizando informaci—n de 8.025 empresas, se estiman modelos de elecci—n discreta para diferentes tipos de innovaci—n: innovaci—n general, de productos, de procesos, organizacional y de marketing. Los resultados muestran que la presencia de empresas innovadoras es m‡s importante que la concentraci—n de empresas en general. Las externalidades de aglomeraci—n derivadas de la diversidad predominan sobre las derivadas de la especializaci—n. Los factores individuales relevantes para la innovaci—n son la inversi—n en I + D y los trabajadores calificados.
