Causas de la informalidad laboral en Montería, Colombia. Un modelo econométrico Probit

Abstract

Este artículo tiene por objeto determinar los factores explicativos de la informalidad laboral en la ciudad de Montería en el año 2018, para lo cual se estimará un modelo econométrico Probit binario utilizando información recabada a través de la Gran Encuesta Integrada de Hogares aplicada por el Departamento Administrativo Nacional de Estadísticas en el tercer trimestre de ese mismo año. Los resultados empíricos revelan que las variables educación, experiencia, ser jefe de hogar o estar casados son estadísticamente significativas con niveles de confianza superiores al 95%, a diferencia de la variable sexo; y que años adicionales de educación y experiencia reducen las probabilidades de que un individuo ocupado pertenezca al sector informal de Montería, lo que también ocurre cuando el trabajador es jefe de hogar o está casado. El estado en su conjunto por tanto debe formular políticas tendientes a lograr una mayor cobertura de educación superior especialmente en la población más pobre y vulnerable, así como también a hacer efectivos los programas de primer empleo y reeducación a la población mayor de 45 años de edad.
