Abstract

In April 1991, the first report of the British Columbia Forest Resources Commission was released. This comprehensive document contains 108 specific recommendations which, if implemented, would have far-reaching consequences for the structure of British Columbia's forest products manufacturing sector and the way in which the province's public forests are administered and managed. In this paper, the report is placed in an historical context, the Commission's findings are reviewed and the implications of the major recommendations are critically examined.
