La Amazonía: un interés estratégico para el Estado colombiano

Abstract

La región amazónica es un área ubicada en Sur América que tiene una extensión de más de siete millones de kilómetros cuadrados, de la cual, hacen parte ocho países: al norte, Colombia y Venezuela; al oriente, Guyana y Surinam; al sur, Brasil y Bolivia; y al occidente, Perú y Ecuador. Esta zona es atravesada por el río del mismo nombre, considerado el de mayor longitud en todo el planeta (Comisión Económica para América Latina y el Caribe CEPAL, 2013). Con base en lo anterior, se planteó como objetivo identificar los intereses nacionales del Estado colombiano en relación con sus recursos naturales y las motivaciones que llevaron al Gobierno nacional a impulsar el Pacto de Leticia por la Amazonía. Para tal fin, se adelantó una investigación con enfoque cualitativo, de tipo descriptivo, procediendo a recolectar la información a través de consultas en fuentes primarias, tales como (World Wildlife Fund (WWF), CEPAL, ONU, Banco Mundial, entidades estatales y organismos internacionales, entre otras). También se consideraron otras fuentes secundarias, como (artículos de investigación y estados del arte publicados en revistas científicas, repositorios y bases de datos indexadas).
