Abstract
****** The objective of this work is to analyze the Venezuelan diaspora and its future repercussions for the socioeconomic structure of Colombia, the nation that has received the highest number of such migrants as a transit or destination country. In conceptual terms, this article touches on several theories about the phenomenon of migration. Additionally, this cross-sectional study adopted a deductive logic method and utilized secondary information sources, such as the database of the Colombian Migration Agency of inbound border crossings thorough checkpoints between 2014 and 2017. To analyze the information, the authors used the Y=f(T) time series, where Y is the forecasted number of Venezuelans that will enter Colombia. The findings revealed a growing trend of male Venezuelans in Colombia, and three urban centers, Bogotá, Cartagena, and Medellín, are their main transit places or destinations. The increase in Venezuelan migration can be divided into three waves. In certain commercial activities, wages tend to decrease. Furthermore, as cities offer the best resources and job opportunities, they are home to most of such vulnerable population.
