Análisis espacial de las desigualdades socioeconómicas en la península de Yucatán, México

Abstract

La desigualdad geográfica es un fenómeno relativo y sujeto a alteraciones, así como a las transformaciones que tienen que ver con la distribución de los recursos o la población, y con los procesos de producción en sí mismos. El objetivo de la investigación fue analizar espacialmente las desigualdades socioeconómicas que se presentan en los municipios de la península de Yucatán. Para llevarla a cabo, la metodología utilizada se basó en el uso de indicadores para calcular los índices de desarrollo y del potencial socioeconómico; con esto, se realizó un análisis matricial de las divergencias territoriales para cada municipio. Los resultados mostraron que la mayoría presentó una divergencia territorial positiva, es decir, que su nivel de desarrollo está por encima o es igual al nivel de su potencial de desarrollo, por lo que se concluye que la distribución espacial de los municipios está estrechamente relacionada con las divergencias existentes en la península de Yucatán.
