Las reformas estructurales de los anos 90 en América Latina y sus efectos en el servicio de salud y la calidad de vida

Abstract

El presente artículo hace referencia al análisis de las reformas es tructurales realizadas en AméricaLatina y el Caribe en la década 1990-2000 y sus efectos en los sistemas de seguridad social en saludadoptados por cada país. Dicho análisis se basa en determinar a través de modelos econométricos depanel agrupados cómo han influido las reformas en la calidad de vida (esperanza de vida al nacer, tasade mortalidad infantil) fr en te a variables macroeconómicas como el Producto Interno Bruto(PIB) y empleo. Eslos modelos dan cu enta que América Latina y el Caribe; aunque parten desdelos mismos principios de aseguramiento (regimenes contributivo y solidarios) ; el comportamiento de lasvariables no responde a las expectativas que se pretendieron en el asegurami ento y el provisionamientode salud para lodos en el ano 2000.
