¿Los medios de comunicación en Colombia son una industria creadora de valor?

Abstract

En este artículo se pretende examinar si el sector de medios de comunicación en Colombia es creador de valor. Para ello se realiza un análisis del desempeno financiero en el período 2006-2011 usando los indicadores financieros que evalúan el crecimiento, la eficiencia, efectividad, eficacia, el valor económico agregado y el valor de mercado agregado de este sector. En los resultados de esta investigación se encontró que este sector solo crea valor en uno de los seis anos de estudio, esto obedece a que el sector presenta una alta dependencia en la eficacia con que se ha gestionado los gastos de administración y del ajuste de su estructura de capital para lograr un menor costo de capital.******This article aims to examine whether the media sector in Colombia creates value. For that, an analysis of the financial performance for the period 2006-2011 is made using financial indicators that assess growth, efficiency, effectiveness, efficiency, economic value added, and market value added of this sector. It is found that this sector only creates value in one of the six years of study, showing a high dependence on the effectiveness with which the sector has managed administrative expenses and adjusting its capital structure in order to achieve a lower cost of capital.
