Abstract

Cuando se fundó Fedesarrollo en 1970, la Federación Nacional de Cafeteros (la Federación) llevaba ya 43 años de existencia y el Fondo Nacional del Café (el Fondo) 30. Las instituciones cafeteras han sido, en este largo período, un ejemplo de estabilidad y de los cambios en el entorno. Hasta 1970 habían sobrevivido a varias crisis sectoriales, a muchos avatares del acontecer nacional y eran reconocidas como elementos valiosos para el manejo de la política sectorial y macroeconómica.
