Inserción internacional de Colombia: un proceso a mitad de camino

Abstract

Si se le preguntara a los colombianos cuál es el cambio estructural más importante que ha tenido la economía nacional en los últimos 35 años, tal vez la mayoría respondería que se trata de la apertura comercial. La reducción de los aranceles y la eliminación de las barreras no arancelarias que se dio entre 1989 y 1991 fue percibida en ese momento como un cambio radical del modelo de desarrollo que había aplicado el país durante años. Después de muchas décadas de protección, los productores colombianos enfrentaban la obligación de competir con los del resto del mundo en el mercado local y en los internacionales.
