Calidad de vida y participación política en los corregimientos de Cartagena

Abstract

¿Por qué votan los ciudadanos de las zonas rurales de Cartagena? ¿Votan para mejorar su calidad de vida? o ¿la calidad de vida determina la participación a través del voto? Este trabajo explora la relación existente entre la participación política y el índice de calidad de vida (ICV) como proxy de la satisfacción con la vida. Usando datos de una encuesta de calidad de vida representativa para los corregimientos de la zona norte de Cartagena, se encontró que un aumento de un punto en el ICV aumenta la probabilidad de votar de los ciudadanos de las zonas rurales de Cartagena, cuando el voto es para Alcaldía, Gobernación y Congreso. También se encontró que no existe una relación robusta entre el ICV y otras formas de participación, como por ejemplo, la participación comunitaria.
