Dispersión y policentrismo en la estructura urbana de Colombia

Abstract

Este trabajo busca presentar de manera sistemática las diferentes investigaciones que, desde la perspectiva de la economía urbana, han abordado el tema de dispersión y policentrismo en Colombia. Se analizan las fuentes de información, las metodologías empleadas y los resultados obtenidos por diversos estudios. Si bien ha ocurrido una fuerte descentralización en las ciudades principales, no es posible, a la luz de los trabajos analizados, establecer con claridad si la descentralización responde a un fenómeno de dispersión o de policentrismo. Las densidades a nivel de ciudad en Colombia parecen ser más una función de los ingresos que de los precios de la tierra. Al parecer el papel que ha desempenado la política de planeación urbana ha sido insuficiente para guiar la configuración de las ciudades.
