El sector de astilleros en Colombia: Una perspectiva fluvial

Abstract

Este estudio describe los elementos competitivos de la industria de astilleros en Colombia, con especial énfasis en lo fluvial, con el propósito de identificar el potencial productivo del sector y estrategias para mejorar su competitividad. En Colombia, la industria de astilleros es poco desarrollada. Específicamente, son pocos los astilleros, medianos o grandes, que se orientan exclusivamente a la fabricación y reparación de embarcaciones fluviales. La mayoría, en vez, consiste en pequenos talleres y varaderos con procesos artesanales y capacidades limitadas. De acuerdo con esto, el análisis para el periodo 2000-2007 revela que es un sector que no ha sido muy explotado y que tiene gran potencial productivo y de utilidades privadas.
