Abstract

El propósito de este artículo es realizar un breve análisis de los cambios políticos, económicos ysociales sucedidos en América Latina desde los 80, y que se pueden apreciar en la relación Estado,mercado y sociedad, así como las transformaciones en el interior de cada uno de estos componentes.El método empleado fue el análisis documental de recientes trabajos e investigaciones desociología y economía latinoamericanas; esta experiencia permitió realizar una reflexión sobre losefectos que trajo consigo la transición a la democracia en la región. Para este análisis se toman comoreferentes los casos de México y Colombia. La conclusión principal es que el Estado centralizado,propio del modelo desarrollista, sigue vigente, pero dándole mayor preponderancia al mercado,en detrimento de la sociedad.
