Análisis y perspectivas de la reforma monetaria en Venezuela (el bolívar fuerte): efectos en Colombia

Abstract

Este artículo presenta algunas reflexiones sobre el proceso de reconversión monetaria en Venezuela a partir de la introducción del bolívar fuerte el 1 de enero de 2008. Su propósito es discutir sobre las perspectivas de la reforma venezolana y sus efectos en Colombia, en medio de un contexto macroeconómico complejo caracterizado por los elevados niveles de inflación que se observan en la economía del hermano país. Lo anterior, a partir del estudio de las experiencias de otros países en procesos similares y del análisis de los costos y beneficios de la reconversión monetaria. En este sentido, los impactos para Colombia van a depender de las reales posibilidades que tenga la reforma monetaria de reducir la inflación, en cuyo caso se podrán frenar las presiones devaluacionistas del bolívar fuerte y con ello minimizar el efecto negativo que traería sobre las exportaciones colombianas
