Crecimiento, complejidad económica y emisiones de CO2: un análisis para Colombia

Abstract

Las emisiones de CO2 a nivel mundial representan un problema de primer orden, particularmente por sus efectos en el calentamiento del planeta. Este documento intenta validar la hipótesis medioambiental de Kuznets para Colombia, no solo a través de la medida tradicional empleada en este tipo de análisis (es decir, producto interno bruto —PIB—), sino incorporando un nuevo índice de producción conocido como índice de complejidad económica. Dadas las relaciones no lineales de las variables, se decide emplear un modelo ANFIS. Además, como análisis de robustez, se utilizan algunas técnicas de series de tiempo tradicionales (FMOLS, DOLS y CCR). El estudio realizado indica que los resultados no son concluyentes para la hipótesis ambiental de Kuznets, por lo que esta no puede ser validada para Colombia.
