Consideraciones teóricas y empíricas acerca de la fecundidad adolescente

Abstract

Este artículo realiza una revisión teórica y empírica acerca de los factores que inciden en la fecundidadadolescente. Entre las variables analizadas se encuentran, el estrato socioeconómico, lajefatura femenina, el nivel educativo, el empleo femenino, el uso de la planificación familiar, elaborto, entre otros. Dentro de la evidencia empírica se encuentra, que para Colombia la tasa defecundidad adolescente se ha incrementando durante los últimos diez anos, alcanzando nivelessemejantes a los de los anos setenta. Además de este incremento, durante los últimos anos se haproducido un aumento en la actividad sexual entre los jóvenes y en el número de madres solteras,mientras que se mantiene constante el uso relativamente bajo de métodos anticonceptivos modernos.Adicionalmente para América Latina y el Caribe se observa un comportamiento heterogéneoentre los niveles y tendencias de la fecundidad adolescente, y en países con un mayor nivel de desarrolloel número de embarazos adolescentes, nacimientos, abortos y enfermedades de transmisiónsexual han sido bajas con excepción de Estados Unidos.
