Integración comercial y reasignación intersectorial de los trabajadores en Colombia, 1986-2006

Abstract

Resumen: Este trabajo analiza el efecto de la creciente integración comercial de Colombia sobre los flujos intersectoriales de trabajadores, para luego determinar cómo éstos afectaron la productividad agregada. Por medio de un acercamiento empírico basado en microdatos, se evidencia que la evolución del grado de integración comercial ha inducido transiciones intersectoriales de los trabajadores hacia sectores de menor productividad, por lo cual se concluye que dichas transiciones afectaron negativamente la productividad agregada. Los resultados también muestran que el efecto de la integración comercial sobre los flujos intersectoriales de trabajadores se manifiesta, esencialmente, dentro de la población de los trabajadores menos educados. Un cambio de la variación del grado de integración comercial en una desviación estándar genera un aumento de la probabilidad de cambiarse a un sector de menor productividad en más de tres puntos porcentuales. Para los trabajadores menos cualificados, el aumento en esta probabilidad alcanza cinco puntos porcentuales.
